Dear Colleagues and Friends,
We are happy and honoured to organize and host the 21th Annual Meeting of the European Society for Computing and Technology in Anesthesia and Intensive Care (ESCTAIC) at the VU university medical centre in Amsterdam, Netherlands between the 6th and 9th of October 2010.
The initiative of ESCTAIC dates back to 1989 when a small group of technology and computing enthusiasts decided to organize a first exchange forum for clinical anesthesiology and technical disciplines, electronics, engineering and ergonomics. And over the years ESCTAIC proved to be very productive. Since then 20 successful meetings have been held all over Europe - from Aalborg to Zurich including such fascinating locations as Glasgow, Palermo, Budapest, Trieste, London, Erlangen, Milano, Toulouse and Goldegg - attracting participants from all over the world - not only from America and Australia, but also from Asia and the Middle East.
Our last meeting in Berlin with participants from 25 countries showed that the concept of ESCTAIC to provide an informal atmosphere for technicians and doctors to meet and exchange ideas on the above mentioned topics continues to generate enthousiasm.
With the organizational and academic support of our four sister societies:
- The STA (USA) - Society for Technology in Anesthesia: www.anestech.org
- The SCATA (UK) - Society for Computers And Technology in Anesthesia: www.scata.org.uk
- The SFIMAR (France, Belgium & Luxembourg) - Société Francophone pour l'Informatique et
le Monitorage en Anesthésie Réanimation: www.sitanest.net - The JSTA (Japan) - Japan Society of Technology in Anesthesia: www.jsta.net
and the magical attraction of Amsterdam we will provide with this 21th Annual ESCTAIC Meeting once again a delightful opportunity for scientists, clinicians and biomedical producers from all over the world.
We are very pleased to welcome you at the VU university medical centre in October 2010 and invite you to participate.
